LA ROCHE-POSAY THERMAL CENTER,
PIONEERING IN CARING FOR PATIENTS UNDERGOING CANCER TREATMENTS
The La Roche-Posay thermal center was first recognized for its public utility in 1869. It is the number one European thermal station exclusively dedicated to treating skin conditions. La Roche-Posay has responded to its dermatological calling for more than 5 centuries, drawing upon its unique and universally-recognized experience and savoir-faire. Its therapeutic properties benefit over 8000 center visitors every year, which is over half of the dermatological thermal treatments in France.
La Roche-Posay offers a very diverse selection of treatments. Its dermatological vocation is built upon its multidisciplinary medical team, the quality of care and, of course, its unique thermal spring water, a “velvet water”, which has been recognized for its anti-inflammatory, healing and soothing properties.
Over the past few years, the La Roche-Posay Thermal Centre has welcomed patients with cutaneous side effects from cancer treatments. More than 8000 patients have benefited from our care in the past 5 years. Post-cancer thermal treatments are a new therapeutic approach for patients in cutaneous and psychological recovery after their cancer treatments.
In 2010, observational studies were conducted to evaluate the beneficial effects of thermal treatments on the skin and the quality of life of patients undergoing cancer treatment. They showed that 82 to 98% of these patients noted significant improvement by the end of the thermal treatments.
In addition to skincare, thermal center visitors also have access to many supportive care treatments: Make-up workshops help restore their self-esteem and provide a feeling of well-being. These services are what make the La Roche-Posay Thermal Spa a pioneer in patient care for the cutaneous side effects of cancer treatments.

THE MAISON ROSE FOR WOMEN
BATTLING CANCER
In early 2016, the first Pink House opened in Bordeaux, to welcome, inform, and care for the well-being of cancer patients.
With the support of the L’Oréal Foundation and Rose Magazine, the Pink House is a free haven for any woman who has been affected by cancer, both during and after her treatments. This house is the first of its kind in France and stands out for its underlying concept: staying feminine while fighting cancer. This house was designed specifically with women in mind, to be a place that brings them together, where they can talk, share their stories and learn!
The Pink House is by women’s side every step of the way to answer any questions they may have. It provides completely free exclusive services in the form of one-on-one or group workshops, discussion groups, and events. A bridge between the healthcare centre and going back to daily life, the Pink House helps relieve anxiety about the disease, makes day-to-day life easier, and combats isolation. Family and friends are also welcome. This cosy house offers all the comfort you need while fighting your disease!
The individual and group workshops include adapted physical activities, beauty, made possible notably thanks to the La Roche-Posay contest (the laboratory provides the products used by a socio-aesthetician who has completed a special training programme as a beautician, the CODES in humanitarian and social areas), delicious kitchen workshops, well-being activities, and even administrative and legal assistance.
The L'Oréal Foundation, built in 2007, organises charitable and public interest initiatives in 110 countries. It is committed to working alongside, valuing and supporting women and vulnerable groups through two large projects centred on the Group’s expertise: science and beauty. Through its supportive beauty program “Look good feel better”, the L’Oréal Foundation supports women on their path to recovery or rehabilitation with beauty care and well-being, to help restore their dignity, will to fight and self-esteem. This is why the Foundation has supported the creation of the Pink House in Bordeaux.
